The statement: “An Abortion is never medically necessary” is actually true, despite all of the misinformation that is available. There is simply no reason to end the life of the child if the mother’s life is in danger. Doctors refer to this as separating the mother and the child. If the mother is suffering from a medical condition that requires the baby to be removed, the child can be removed by induction or C-section. There is no situation that requires an abortion. The child might not be old enough to survive, yet both mother and child receive medical care.

“As experienced practitioners and researchers in obstetrics and gynaecology, we affirm that direct abortion – the purposeful destruction of the unborn child – is not medically necessary to save the life of a woman.

We uphold that there is a fundamental difference between abortion, and necessary medical treatments that are carried out to save the life of the mother, even if such treatment results in the loss of life of her unborn child.

We confirm that the prohibition of abortion does not affect, in any way, the availability of optimal care to pregnant women.”

All of the states that have passed abortion bans or restrictions make exceptions for the health of the mother and rape. Again, this fact is often misreported. In short, abortion is legal in every state in cases where the mother’s health is at risk, even though it is never medically necessary.
